Quantification of postoperative atrial fibrillation by automatic analysis of electrocardiograms
ABSTRACT New-onset postoperative atrial fibrillation (PoAF) is a common complication after open heart aortic valve replacement with an incidence of 22-49%. The result thereof is a decrease in the patient’s well-being and an increase in health care costs. The past decades research about the PoAF episode incidence and burden has stagnated.

Non-Blind Source Separation and Feature Extraction: Theory, Approach and Case Studies in Cardiac Signals.
ABSTRACT Source separation (SS) and feature extraction (FE) are tools employed in digital signal processing. The former permits to estimate the values of some sources that have been mixed, and the latter extracts features from a set of measurements.

Towards Privacy-Preserving Medical Cloud Computing Using Homomorphic Encryption
ABSTRACT Personal health monitoring tools, such as commercially available wireless ECG patches, can significantly reduce healthcare costs by allowing patient monitoring outside the healthcare organizations. These tools transmit the acquired medical data into the cloud, which could provide an invaluable diagnosis tool for healthcare professionals.

Quantification of ventricular repolarization heterogeneity during moxifloxacin or sotalol administration using V-index
ABSTRACT Drug-induced alterations of ventricular heterogeneity must be limited to avoid induction of lethal ventricular arrhythmias. In here, a new parameter called V-index, able to measure the standard deviation of myocites' repolarization times, was evaluated after moxi6oxacin and sotalol administration.

Developing a New Computer-aided Clinical Decision Support System For Prediction of Successful Post-cardioversion Patients With Persistent Atrial Fibrillation
ABSTRACT In this study, we propose a new algorithm to predict the outcome of direct-current electric (DCE) cardioversion for atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. AF is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and DCE cardioversion is a non-invasive treatment to end AF and return the patient to sinus rhythm (SR).

Adaptive ECG Biometric Recognition: a Study on Re-Enrollment Methods for QRS Signals
ABSTRACT The diffusion of wearable and mobile devices for the acquisition and analysis of cardiac signals drastically increased the possible applicative scenarios of biometric systems based on electrocardiography (ECG)

Multiscale cardiac modelling reveals the origins of notched T waves in long QT syndrome type 2
ABSTRACT The heart rhythm disorder long QT syndrome (LQTS) can result in sudden death in the young or remain asymptomatic into adulthood. The features of the surface electrocardiogram (ECG), a measure of the electrical activity of the heart, can be equally variable in LQTS patients, posing well-described diagnostic dilemmas.

An Evaluating Method for Autonomic Nerve Activity by Means of Estimating the Consistency of Heart Rate Variability and QT Variability
ABSTRACT The imbalance of autonomic nervous system (ANS) has a close relationship to cardiac mortality. The noninvasive assessment of ANS is of great importance and remains challenging. A new method, characterizing the consistency of short-term nonlinear indexes of heart rate variability (HRV) and QT variability (QTV), is proposed and validated.

The Application of Root Mean Square Electrocardiography (RMS ECG) for the Detection of Acquired and Congenital Long QT Syndrome
ABSTRACT Precise measurement of the QT interval is often hampered by difficulty determining the end of the low amplitude T wave. Root mean square electrocardiography (RMS ECG) provides a novel alternative measure of ventricular repolarization. Experimental data have shown that the interval between the RMS ECG QRS and T wave peaks (RTPK) closely reflects the mean ventricular action potential duration while the RMS T wave width (TW) tracks the dispersion of repolarization timing.

Quantification of Ventricular Repolarization Heterogeneity during Moxifloxacin Administration using V-index Cardiovascular Oscillations (ESGCO)
ABSTRACT Drug-induced alterations of ventricular heterogeneity must be limited to avoid induction of lethal ventricular arrhythmias. In here, a new parameter called V-index, able to measure the standard deviation of myocites’ repolarization
